Title: Simulated Flow Through Porous Media

Description: We created this movie in order to demonstrate the type of research our group does. It shows results of a Finite Element model of fluid flow through porous sandstone. There have been few high-resolution visualizations of this sort that depict the flow field at such small scales. The viewer will see a digitized image of the rock. The streamlines of the flow field are then animated. The rock is made transparent to show the flow field within and the complexity of the pore-space. Finally, the viewer moves into the rock along with tracer particles and rides along a single streamline.
